ABOUT

Since 2015, we have been the premiere online resource for people seeking to learn more about this unique restaurant concept. We have the largest online archive of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place documentation dating back to 1979, archival photographs, historical video clips, and an ever expanding pool of information. The Fazbear Archive was started by high school friends Brooke Monohan and Liam Bradford in February of 2015. They ended up in the same Robotics class and after being paired together for an assignment, found they had a lot in common. Later, they brought in Elijah Addams, a friend of Liam, and someone who was knowledgeable on the iconic mascots and showtapes they performed.Even though the golden age of Freddy's had been over for years at this point, Brooke, Liam, and Elijah all had a huge love and appreciation for the Fazbear brand. They all had fond memories of going there as a kid, with both Liam's dad and Brooke's mom working there in the '90s. They decided to combine Liam's programming skills, Brooke's encyclopedic knowledge of the restaurant's history, and Elijah's creative insight to create the Fazbear Archive, to ensure the love for Freddy's would never die.

CHARACTERS

FREDDY FAZBEAR

The star of the show! A big cuddly bear from the American South here to sing you your favorite hits!Freddy Fazbear was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, though his origins date back to the very beginning of the business in 1979. Many people don't know that Freddy and Friends were the original idea by co-founder Henry Emily for the restaurant, but they were changed due to budgetary reasons at the time.He would undergo design changes later down the line, but during his stay at the Colorado Springs location, he sported a white-striped black top hat, a big black bow tie, two black buttons, and his signature microphone. He's a big brown bear with blue eyes, a big nose, and three freckles on each side of his snout. He also has a claw on each digit on his hands and feet, and stands around 6'8" not including his top hat or ears.Due to him being the star of the show and namesake of the restaurant, Freddy Fazbear would go on to become one of the most popular children's characters among the likes of Mickey Mouse and Ronald McDonald. He is voiced by Brant McCarthy. Below is his original audition tape from 1983.

BONNIE THE BUNNY

Freddy's right-hand man and the guitarist in the band. This wisecracking blue bunny can rock and roll!Bonnie the Bunny was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, though his origins date back to the very beginning of the business in 1979. Many people don't know that Freddy and Friends were the original idea by co-founder Henry Emily for the restaurant, but they were changed due to budgetary reasons at the time.He would undergo design changes later down the line, but during his stay at the Colorado Springs location, he sported a big red bow tie, two black buttons, and a shiny red-orange guitar. He's a big blue rabbit with red eyes, a cotton tail, and two floppy ears on the top of his head. He is also most commonly seen on stage sitting on a tree stump, unlike the rest of the band that stand. When stood up, he is around 6'8'', not including his ears.

CHICA THE CHICKEN

Chica not only provides the backup vocals in the band but also helps prepare the pizzas along with her best friend Carl the Cupcake!Chica the Chicken was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, though her origins date back to the very beginning of the business in 1979. Many people don't know that Freddy and Friends were the original idea by co-founder Henry Emily for the restaurant, but they were changed due to budgetary reasons at the time. She would undergo design changes later down the line, but during her stay at the Colorado Springs location, she sported a white bib with the phrase "LET'S EAT!". She's a big yellow chicken with eyelashes, purple eyes, a tuft of feathers coming out of the top of her head, and orange bird feet. She's commonly associated with her best friend Carl the Cupcake who she holds on stage on a plate in her left hand. She stands around 6'8'', not including her feathers. Her voice actor was identified as Emma Hopkins. Her audition tape is linked below:

FOXY THE PIRATE FOX

When Foxy isn't busy entertaining the older kids at Freddy's, he's out sailing the seven seas and plundering for booty! ...That be treasure, you know?Foxy the Pirate was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, though his origins date back to the very beginning of the business in 1979. Many people don't know that Freddy and Friends were the original idea by co-founder Henry Emily for the restaurant, but they were changed due to budgetary reasons at the time.He would undergo design changes later down the line, but during his stay at the Colorado Springs location, he sported a black eyepatch on his right eye, a hook on his right hand, a pair of brown shorts, and a peg leg. He's a big red fox with yellow eyes, whiskers, tufts of fur on his head, cheeks, chin and shoulders, a claw on each digit of his hands and feet, and a big fluffy tail. He's unique because he can be found on his own stage separate from the rest of the band called Pirates Cove. It even has a kid's crawl maze running underneath it, but unfortunately it was closed down in the mid '80s. He stands around 6'8'', not including his ears. After a break-in in December of 2002, the bots were found vandalized and damaged, but Foxy got the worst of it. There were several large holes and tears in his suit, and while the other bots were able to be repaired, Foxy would remain decommissioned at that location until its closure.

CARL THE CUPCAKE

Chica's pet cupcake and cooking partner!Carl the Cupcake was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. He would undergo design changes later down the line, but during his stay at the Colorado Springs location, he sat upon a small silver plate and had a lit yellow and white candle sticking out of him that could light up. He is a small pink cupcake with big buck teeth and two googly eyes. He is most commonly seen in Chica's left hand on stage.

CHICA'S MAGIC RAINBOW

Chica's old friend and background singer for the band!Chica's Magic Rainbow was introduced in January of 1984 with the rebrand from Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place.Unlike many of the other characters, Chica's Magic Rainbow would only be present at the Colorado Springs location and would not return in future locations. Most people believe this is because many children and patrons of the restaurant found her appearance more disturbing than the other bots. She is a anthropomorphic rainbow character with metallic pink eyes, long eyelashes, a big red nose, and buck teeth. She resided on the main stage the left of Bonnie, and could be seen rising and lowering behind one of the stage's bush props.

MELVIN MUSHROOM

Melvin Mushroom is the comic relief of the band and often finds himself at the butt of the joke. When he's not goofing off with the band, you can be sure to find him taking a nap in his stump.Melvin Mushroom was introduced in the fall of 1989 with the reopening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place after a 4 year closure. The animatronic originated as a miscellaneous character produced by Murray Co., but was purchased and repurposed for Freddy's.He is a anthropomorphic mushroom character with yellow and green eyes, a big red nose, rosy red cheeks, buck teeth, and a ladybug named Matilda on his head. He resided on the main stage to the right of Chica, and could be seen rising from and lowering into his stump.Did you know? At one point, a Freddy's employee carved the letters F + B in a heart into Melvin's stump, referencing the relationship between Freddy and Bonnie vaguely hinted at in a few showtapes.

HELPY THE HAMSTER

The Helpy character served as a sort of mascot for Fazbear employees, featuring on staff posters and eventually in an internal program set to automate negligible tasks. This program would later evolve into the short-lived HelpyPAL digital assistant. The character itself however originated from Murray Co. as a small wind up hamster toy, though it was unnamed. The toys were acquired in 1989 for the reopening, and the character was transformed into the lovable Helpy that we know today.Helpy is a small, off-white hamster with pink accents, rosy red cheeks, and big buck teeth. He sports a purple-striped black top hat, round glasses, a big purple bow tie, one black button, and a black business suit.Unlike the majority of Fazbear characters, Helpy the Hamster didn't exist physically in the form of an animatronic. His most popular appearance was the HelpyPAL digital assistant program. The program would do things like delete or close unnecessary files or programs to help free up storage and memory usage. He would also monitor internet usage to ensure employees weren't using the computers for unauthorized reasons. He even has a special mode created for security guards at Freddy's, alerting them of any movement detected at cameras. After Helpy's moderate success within the company, they decided to branch out the character into a personal computer assistant, due to the popularity of similar assistants at the time like BonziBuddy and KinitoPET. In early 2002 they launched HelpyPAL, "Your Helping Hand on the Web". Unfortunately, due to low funding, Fazbear Entertainment had cut some corners in the development of HelpyPAL. They had outsourced his programming, and thanks to that, HelpyPAL did not function like advertised and even included some malicious code. This would be yet another big blunder on Fazbear's record and HelpyPAL would be taken down later that year, though there were reports that the internal Helpy program was still in use.

FREDBEAR

Fredbear was one of the two first animatronic characters produced by Fazbear Entertainment in 1979 and was the predecessor to Freddy Fazbear.Due to being an early creation, the Fredbear animatronic did not have legs and was a half-body, however, this was obscured by the balcony style design of the Fredbear's main stage. He sported a purple-striped black bowler hat, a black pair of round spectacles, a white tuxedo front, a purple polka-dotted bowtie, three black buttons, and white gloves. In his right hand, he held a bright red microphone, and in his left, a cigar. He was a yellow bear with a big black nose, freckles dotting his snout, purple eyelids, and turquoise irises. It is likely there was also a walkaround suit for Fredbear, though we currently lack a description or any photos. This fact is debated, but some claim that the character was voiced by co-founder, Henry Emily. The animatronic stands at roughly 4'10", including the base but not including the bowler hat or ears. Fredbear resided at stage right, opposite of Bonnie Rabbit.Did you know? During the break-in in 2002, one of the burglars crammed the Fredbear animatronic, which previously resided in a storage closet, into the closed-off crawl maze under Pirates Cove, causing significant damage. None of the employees thought to check the maze and assumed he had been stolen. Thankfully, it was found and recovered and put back into storage during the closure in 2003.

BONNIE RABBIT

Bonnie Rabbit was one of the two first animatronic characters produced by Fazbear Entertainment in 1979 and was the predecessor to Bonnie the Bunny.Due to being an early creation, the Bonnie Rabbit animatronic did not have legs and was a half-body, however, this was obscured by the balcony style design of the Fredbear's main stage. He sported a plain purple bowtie, three black buttons, white gloves, and a purple vest decorated with shiny metallic stars and black accents. His main accessory was his instrument, a banjo. He was a yellow rabbit, with buck teeth, two whiskers on each side of his snouth, a triangular brown nose, two big floppy ears, eyelashes, and green irises. There was also a walkaround suit for Bonnie Rabbit, with the main differences being plain black eyes instead of green, and more top teeth. This fact is debated, but some claim that the character was voiced by co-founder, William Afton. The animatronic stands at roughly 4'10", including the base but not including the ears. Bonnie Rabbit resides at stage left, opposite of Fredbear. After the rebrand, the Bonnie Rabbit animatronic was kept in a storage closet in one of the back rooms. It's believed that it was thankfully recovered and put in storage elsewhere during the closure in 2003.

HISTORY

Fazbear Entertainment was founded by business partners and old friends Henry Emily and William Afton. Soon they began work on a brand new kind of establishment. Many don't know that Freddy's was Emily's original idea for the restaurant in 1978. However, due to budgetary constraints at the time, it had to be scaled down. Afton aided Emily in rethinking the idea, eventually landing on Fredbear's Family Diner!

COLORADO SPRINGS (1979-2003)

The Colorado Springs location, located at 7367 Hurricane St., was opened on April 3rd, 1979 as Fredbear's Family Diner. It featured a large hexagonal showroom with a main center stage and a smaller additional stage to the right. On the main stage was Fredbear and Bonnie Rabbit. On the stage to the right, given the name of 'Sparky's Doghouse', was Sparky Hounddog. The showroom included 10 party tables, 6 booths lining the inner showroom wall, and 6 more booths lining the outer wall.Directly out front of the showroom was the Arcade, consisting of 24 arcade cabinets, and beyond that the entrance to the building. To the right of the entrance was also the Rides and Attractions area, featuring several Fredbear-themed rides such as the Carousel and Fredbear's Wheel of Fun. On the other side of the entrance was the Prize Counter, where kids could exchange tickets for prizes such as plushies, t-shirts, bobble-heads, and more! The prize counter was also home to the simply named Puppet animatronic.Sometime in 1983, however, Henry Emily unfortunately passed away due to unknown circumstances. There were rumors of suicide, but understandably, the Emily family never commented on the matter.Because of Emily's passing, Fredbear's closed down and reopened on January 16, 1984 as Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, undergoing a major rebrand. The rebrand replaced Fredbear and Bonnie Rabbit with Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Chica's Magic Rainbow on the main stage and Sparky Hounddog with Foxy the Pirate Fox on the additional stage, now called 'Pirates Cove'. As part of the rebrand, there were also other additions to the establishment. These include but are not limited to a 'Showtime' button of the wall to the left of the main stage along with new posters and a shelf of miscellaneous items, a kid's crawl maze underneath Pirates Cove, new and updated rides and arcades, and of course new theming, branding, and promotional material to match the rebrand.Something that many people don't know about is the partnership between Fazbear Entertainment and Murray Co., a local colorado fabrication and engineering business. During the Fredbear era, they only produced the cosmetics of the animatronics. They got much more involved for the rebrand however, producing all of the new animatronics in their entirety along with many of the new props and decoration. This was likely due in part to Emily's passing, as he was the main engineer of the two.The restaurant once again closed down in 1985, but this time for much longer than before. In fact, Freddy's would not reopen again until the summer of 1989.After only a year and a half of operation, Freddy's would once again shut down in the summer of 1985. People today attribute this to co-founder, William Afton, stepping down as owner and seemingly disappearing from the public eye. Most speculate he stepped down due to the passing of his business partner. After a change in ownership, however, the establishment reopened in again in 1989. This came along with a few changes, namely the removal of the Puppet animatronic and the addition of Melvin Mushroom. The next decade plus would be largely uneventful for the establishment, for better and for worse. Interest for Freddy's would rise again in the early to mid '90s, but it would begin to decline once more after that. The business was just barely able keep their head above water, but even that wouldn't last. After the failure of the HelpyPAL program in 2002 and a break-in the same year, Fazbear Entertainment would be forced to declare chapter 11 bankruptcy and close down the Colorado Springs location in October of 2003. This would lead to the company being acquired by Burrows Industries a couple years later. The location on Hurricane St. would remain abandoned until 2011, when it and the entire strip mall it was a part of was completely demolished, leaving only an empty lot. The lot is still there today, but fenced off. The only things left are some of the floors and debris from the building.
